Meet the Rabbi and Rebbetzin

Rabbi Sholom D. Bluming grew up in Brooklyn, NY and accomplished his undergraduate studies in the New York Rabbinical College. He continued his postgraduate studies in Paris, France, and was ordained in the Rabbinical Seminary of Los Angeles, California in 2007. During his rabbinical internship, he served a year in Buenos Aires, Argentina, teaching and creating educational programming for the local schools and community.

Sheera grew up in Toronto, Canada, and after graduating High School, she spent a year studying in Jerusalem Israel and received a Teacher’s Diploma in Education. She spent another year in Israel teaching Jewish studies. She then returned home and continued teaching and mentoring students in New York.

Under the direction of the Chabad headquarters in Brooklyn, Rabbi Bluming went to visit the Bahamas for the first time in August 2010, after seeing interest for organized Jewish life he began visiting periodically and very soon established a permanent presence.

Over the past few years, the community has grown with a variety of educational programs, holiday celebrations, youth events, and Hebrew School, as well as social events for the wider Bahamian community.

Sholom and Sheera’s wisdom, engaging personalities, and non-judgmental approach are what makes them so loved in the community.

They are the proud parents of Mendel, Levi, and Chaya.
